Creativitas just has finished international training course “Kitchen of Competences”, which involved participants from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany and Italy, who are working with youngsters from different backgrounds, lacking of basic soft skills like household, health care, food cooking, budget planning and economical literacy. A lack of those basic and fundamental skills force social exclusion and discourage from active participation in civic society. Training course Kitchen of Competences covered many topics such as budget planning, making menu, buying food, cooking meal, using food waste in sustainable way, rubbish composting and environmental control. These competences are necessary in a daily life of young people and can be even useful experience in labour market. Cooking as a method was very attractive for participants and not well discovered or developed area in youth field in general.
Training course were organised together with an experienced promoter Szkola na Widelcu and chef Maciej Nowicki from Poland, who is directly working with this topic in Poland schools. Participants have discovered the long-lasting experience of teaching youngsters of household, healthy food and lifestyle, food and nutrition, ecological consumption and environmental control.
Youth workers, teachers have had a lot of practical workshops: how to choose good food and buy it, to plan budget and menu, to prepare dinner or lunch for more than 20 persons, serve and decorate table, to use prepared food second time, recycling and composting and ect. Participants also, created methods and activities for children and youngsters such as: good food and healthy lifestyle, good food – low money, unhealthy tasty and ect. These methods and activities were tried in 5 different partners’ organizations, who are working with kids or youngsters with fewer opportunities in Vilnius, Aukštadvaris and Semeliškės. Workshops which created and practiced participants are uploaded in www.creativitas.lt site. There are 5 workshops on different themes which can be used in any country, working with kids and youngsters with fewer opportunities.
